Tulipa ostrowskiana

This species, shown above at the Korday Pass (1,000m/3,300ft) in Kazakhstan, can be found over a very large area, and as often occurs with widely distributed species, it is quite variable. Plants vary in height, bloom time and color—from red to orange to yellow, often in combination. There is probably a taxonomist who would love to split this species into several subgroups.
