41. Tulipa australis



This species is native to regions bordering the Mediterranean Sea; it can even be found in mountainous areas in North Africa. When closed, the flowers are hard to see among the rocks. But when the sun hits them and they open to reveal their bright yellow interiors, they are easy to spot. The photo above was taken in the Corbières Mountains in southwestern France.
